The Department of Child Nutrition Services provides more than just food, we also place a strong emphasis on nutrition and nutrition education.
Redondo Beach Unified School District partners with The Beach Cities Health District to bring our students the finest fresh fruits and vegetables, school gardens, and a highlighted “Harvest of the Month” fruit or vegetable choice.
The Department of Child Nutrition adheres to a strict Wellness policy throughout the School District. Our school menus include low and reduced fat foods, whole-grains, healthy snacks, and meet all Federal and State nutritional guidelines. At our Elementary and Middle School sites we also provide garden-fresh produce bars that are stocked daily with fresh fruit and vegetables.
Our goal is to provide nutritious foods and to incorporate nutrition and physical education with traditional courses of academic study so that we meet the needs of the whole child.
In partnership with BCHD LiveWell Kids Program, students enjoy tasting different farm fresh fruits each month, called Fresh Pick . Please click the Fresh Pick link to the right to see the monthly "Fresh" Pick" as well as its health benefit.
PARENTS: When creating a new account on the Nutrikids web site, use your child’s complete student ID number and not the pin number. If you do not know the student ID number you can call your child’s school secretary for that information.
